Things to do at Haven

Take a walk or a bike ride along the many tracks and enjoy the rural atmosphere, birds and wildlife. Look at the splendid new homes, the historic old homes and the vast gardens.

  • Twelve tennis courts, free to the community when not in use for competition or coaching
  • A basketball ring, and a rebound wall to practise your tennis
  • The wetlands on the reserve, and a BBQ with family at the hall
  • Anzac Park Haven and the WWI Memorial, with its irrigation history mural and boards
  • The padlock of love, launched in 2019, where families add a lock in memory of someone special

Most of community life at Haven runs out of the hall and the reserve. Here is the detail on each.

Art & Craft Mondays

1st & 4th Monday

A very social and friendly afternoon. The ladies bring an amazing variety of skills and ideas, and are more than happy to share. No need to book, feel free to bring friends.

Haven's Bush Playgroup

Tuesdays in term

Something different for families. From playtime, arts and craft in the hall, to exploring the bush. Farm visits, animal hunts, treasure hunts and bird watching. Sports days are great fun. Be prepared to get dirty.

Haven Memorial Hall

The hub of the community

One of the busiest halls in the district, with around 500 uses a year. Fully air-conditioned, with a large outdoor area under shade sails, electric BBQs and an excellent fenced playground. Available for birthdays, weddings, concerts and training days. Also used as a relief centre and a polling booth.

Haven Recreation Reserve

Twenty-three acres

Managed by the council, the reserve holds twelve tennis courts, a fenced netball court, a fully fenced playground with sandpit, an irrigated soccer and hockey field, ponds and a storage dam. It is the site of the developing Sports Hub and Community Centre, and is surrounded by walking and cycling tracks.

Playground

Built for families

A great playground and sandpit, fully fenced with lots of lawn to run around in, or for a family game of cricket. Shade sails over the play equipment, two free electric BBQs, picnic tables and seats.

Haven Market

First Saturday monthly

A monthly event raising funds to improve facilities for the community, the primary school and visitors. Hundreds enjoy the relaxed atmosphere in a bush setting just five minutes from Horsham.
